Sr Engineer - Hardware
Description
We are looking for a motivated engineer to support the configuration, bring-up, tuning, and validation of TCON-less LCD display panels across multiple TV platforms.
The role combines panel interface knowledge with picture quality (PQ) optimisation and broader hardware engineering activities. The successful candidate will work closely with SoC vendors, panel manufacturers, ODM/OEM partners, and internal software teams to ensure successful panel integration, industry-leading picture quality, and robust hardware performance throughout product development.
The position requires a strong understanding of display interfaces, timing generation, panel power sequencing, signal integrity, display bring-up, and PQ-related technologies used in modern Smart TV platforms.
What you will get to do:
- TCON-less Panel Configuration & Tuning:
- Analyse panel specifications, optical data, timing documentation, and interface requirements.
- Configure and verify: GPIO assignments, GOA timing, Panel power sequences
- Develop and validate panel timing configuration files and tuning binaries.
- Perform panel light-up activities and root cause analysis of bring-up issues.
- Use oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and display measurement equipment to verify timing relationships and signal integrity.
- Support panel verification and work with SoC vendors and panel manufacturers to resolve technical issues and optimise display performance.
- Support and execute display PQ tuning activities following baseline panel configuration.
- Work with PQ teams and ODM/OEM partners to identify, reproduce, and resolve image quality issues.
- Support Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, gaming mode, and high refresh rate display validation activities.
- General Hardware Engineering support:
- Perform schematic and PCB design reviews for customer and partner designs
- Conduct hardware debugging and root cause analysis at board and subsystem level.
- Support certification and compliance testing activities.
- Assist software teams with hardware-related investigations and issue resolution.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning.
Who we are looking for:
Must have:
- Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.
- 2+ years' experience in hardware development, display systems, or consumer electronics.
- Experience with TCON-less panel architecture.
- Strong understanding of:
- LCD panel & TV display systems
- Digital electronics & Signal integrity
- Experience with laboratory equipment: Oscilloscope, protocol analyzers,
- Experience reading schematics and PCB layouts.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Eager to learn and take on new challenges.
- Able to adapt to new challenges and have a good and enthusiastic attitude to work.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of: GOA technology, V-by-One, LVDS, mLVDS, CEDS, CHPI
- Experience with Smart TV platforms and SoC vendors such as Amlogic, MediaTek, Novatek, Realtek, or MStar.
- Familiarity with PQ technologies: HDR, Dolby Vision, Local Dimming, MEMC, Demura, Colour Calibration
- Experience with PQ tuning equipment - spectrometers/colorimeters.
- Experience working with panel vendors including BOE, AUO, Innolux, CSOT, HKC, or LG Display.
- Knowledge of EMC/EMI compliance and TV certification processes.
